Scholarship Opportunities

At Sierra Nevada College, we do our best to make private college affordable by offering generous academic scholarships and financial aid. By submitting an Application for Admission, you will be automatically considered for the following academic scholarships, depending on your Grade Point Average at your high school or prior university(ies):

Merit-Based Scholarships for Incoming First-Year Students:

Upon acceptance, each first-year applicant is reviewed for the following scholarships based on their cumulative GPA (based on grades 9-12) at the time of acceptance. Upon graduation from high school, first-year students may qualify for a higher tier scholarship if their GPA has increased. These annual scholarships are renewable each year for a maximum of four years based on students remaining in good academic standing. Incoming first-year students that meet certain requirements are eligible for the SNC Four Year Graduation Guarantee.
  • Trustee Scholarship - $11,000
Undergraduate first-year students with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher will be awarded the merit-based Trustee Scholarship at the time of admission.

  • Presidential Scholarship - $6,000
Undergraduate first-year students with a cumulative GPA between 3.25 and 3.74 will be awarded the merit-based Presidential Scholarship at the time of admission.

  • Provost Scholarship - $5,000
Undergraduate first-year students with a cumulative GPA between 3.00 and 3.24 will be awarded the merit-based Provost Scholarship at the time of admission.

  • Eagle Scholarship - $4,000
Undergraduate first-year students with a cumulative GPA between 2.80 and 2.99 will be awarded the merit-based Provost Scholarship at the time of admission.

  • Millennium Plus Scholars Award, Nevada High School Graduates only - $12,500
One of the founding principles of the Guinn Millennium Scholarships was to provide the opportunity for Nevada’s best and brightest students to remain in-state. This Millennium Plus Scholars Award—the first of its kind in the state—will create an added benefit for Nevada’s Millennium Scholars, as well as a further incentive for them to remain in Nevada. Nevada high school graduates that are Millennium Scholars are automatically awarded the Millennium Plus from Sierra Nevada College in addition to the funds received from the state of Nevada.

Students are awarded Guinn Millennium Scholarship recipient status upon graduating from a Nevada high school with a 3.25 grade point average and completing a rigorous high school curriculum. Students interested in receiving Sierra Nevada College’s Millennium Plus Scholars Award—which supplements the Guinn Millennium Scholarship—will need to meet the Nevada state scholarship eligibility requirements, which are officially determined in the summer after graduation (high school counselors can tentatively award the Millennium Plus Scholars Award based on the student’s transcript). Merit-Based Scholarships for Incoming Transfer Students:

Students are considered a transfer student if they earned a minimum of fifteen credits at another college or university. Upon acceptance, each transfer applicant is reviewed for the following scholarships based on their cumulative GPA at the time of acceptance. These annual scholarships are renewable each year for a maximum of four years based on students remaining in good academic standing. Incoming transfer students that have earned a minimum of sixty transferrable credits and meet other requirements are eligible for the SNC Two Year Graduation Guarantee. Incoming first-year students who have taken college courses or earned college credit while in high school are considered incoming freshman and not eligible for transfer scholarships.

  • Partner Scholarship - $10,000
Undergraduate transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and are transferring from one of the following schools with whom we have an articulation agreement will be awarded the Partner Scholarship at the time of admission. All students that apply for Federal Student Aid using the FAFSA.ed.gov will be analyzed for an SNC need-based grant to absorb 50% of the remaining unmet need for new first-time freshmen students who live on campus and 45% for off-campus students. The SNC School Code for the FAFSA is 009192. Incoming fall students are encouraged to submit their FAFSA before the end of February, but FAFSA forms are accepted and reviewed up until the start of the school year.
